I saw the magnificence of media. I saw how it defies gravity. It was never too late to change and show everybody what it has got. With all that I have learned in eight months, I decide to bow down to the one and only MEDIA!

It is very powerful, and we may not notice the effects on us but with all that I have obbserved, we can clearly see hot influencial it can get. I believe and agree with what Marshall McLuhan said, "We shape our tools, and they in turn shape us." This tells us that we HAVE to be really cautious and AWARE of media's effects on us, or else media, which man created, would have us in their hands, and I do think that is not right.

Proving the fact that media is influential, we must knwo how to USE MEDIA WISELY. As the song of the Spice Girls goes, "Too much of something is bad enough," we have to know our limitations. Media primarily intended the betterment of mankind, and I do see their efforts, but we have to know when to stop. I guess the negative effects of media should not all be blamed on the people behind it, because how the mass use media could also be causes of these issues.

We must not be too judgemental of it, and give it a chance to soar high, and do its job to inpire, inform and entertain people.

Meida as the Prinsesa sees it, ROCKS, is MAGNIFICENT, BEAUTIFULHaha (Kidding!) and AWESOME! I do hope  people get to see this as well!

 Bye

"Where's the place to go and be number one! Join Trum pets Playshop! The place to be a star!" This song has been in my head ever since I took my first workshop there (Summer before sophomore year) which was musical theatre. Everybody who knows me, knows about my love and passion for musical theatre, which I actually discovered when I joined Playshop.

Now what does this have to do with media? Trumpets Playshops offers courses in musical theatre, streetdancing, modeling, public speaking and the such. See? MEDIA!

Trumpets, aside from having summer courses for people of all ages, also produces plays like Joseph the Dreamer, Honk, The Little Mermaid, The Lion the Witch and the Wardrobe, Mr. Noah's Big Boat, and the list goes on. These productions, as you may have noticed, are classic tales for children, but can you believe that people (Yes, homo sapiens)  of all ages could actually relate and LEARN from these? Oh yeah! I, myself have experienced that when I watched their latest produciton of Joseph the Dreamer.

I really REALLY love Trumpets Playshop, and it being the reason why I am who I am right now (More confident and noisy *Or should I say outgoing*) is not the only reason why. I have developed a DEFINITELY more personal relationship with my Father. Can you believe it? Media, through Trumpets Playshop brought me closer to Him, God almighty, and I believe it is not only I whom they have influenced in this aspect.

Trumpets Playshop is SERIOUSLY the place to be a star! You get to see the star in you, pass on the splendor to others and get to know wo the TRUE STAR is. GOD.

P.S. I see Christian Bautista because of this

Our class (Kamalayan) had to do The Fantatsticks for English Week. Let me tell you more about it.

It is an off- broadway play, 1960 musical comedy, music by Harvey Schimdt and lyrics by Tom Jones. It tells a story of a young boy named Matt and a young girl named Luisa, who are in love with each other. Their fathers (Hucklbee and Bellomy) built a wall, and pretend to be enemies with each other, but that was only an act to make their children fall in love with each other even more.

Honestly, I found the story shallow and boring at first. I mean DUH?! Climb over the wall with you, or elope if you must! However, I looked at the deeper side of it. The wall symbolizes all the other things that cause lovers' tragedies. It may be the usual "age" problem wherein teenagers are often involved, "My parents do not approve of her/ him thing" or the telenovela- like "She is rich, I am poor scenario". It is also a musical, which made it 100% more interesting! The songs were amazing, music  and lyric- wise!

This was made into a film, and I am glad they did that

The Fantasticks showed us how people cannot really be perfect, even our parents. They also make mistakes, but somehow we are given second chances, even more. We must not waste these opportunities to set right what must be set right.

Media again proved how wonderful, grand and lovely it could be! Way to go media!

Feeling fantastic Princess Arielle signing off!

What makes The Dark different from all the other horror "The" movies like The Ring, The Phone, The Oven, The Curling Iron? Haha, kidding! Seriously now! Let me tell you why I love this film!

My friends and I were looking for a horror movie, and I came across this DVD. The WHOLE MOVIE was CREEPY! We were screaming almost half of the film! What made it really really freaky? They used a kid. The usual "horor" thing. So the story goes like this. A mom with her daughter, who is very mean and is a rebel child, went to visit her husband whom she just divorced with. Her daughter does not really approve of this, and she blames her mother for it. The daughter (Sarah), falls into the sea and  dies. Her mother TRIES to do everything to get her daughter back, because according to a Welsh lore, trading the life of another could bring back your loved one. What happened was that a little girl came back (from thDarke past, I mean PAST) in exchange with Sarah who died. Okay so I do not wish to spoil the movie for you, so just watch it. Let me just warn you that the ending is not at all happy. It is annoying and roar- ful

This movie made me realize how I take my parents and the things they do for granted most of the time. I do not realize how much they love me, and I end up hurting them. The Dark made me realize how mean doing bad things to your parents is. It made me feel like a really bad daughter. After watching, I was like "Oh my gosh. Wah Am I THAT mean?", but then let's look at the brighter side of that. The film woke me up to say "Hey Arielle, it's never too late. Get up and show your parents how you love them and how much you appreciate the little and big things they do for you."

Two thumbs up for this movie! Cinematography, check. Horror factors, check. Moral lesson, check check check!

Prinsesa
Remake by 6cyclemind
Nakaupo sya sa isang madilim na sulok

Ewan ko ba kung bakit sa libo-libong babaeng niligawan

Wala pang isang minuto

[Chorus]
Dalhin mo ako sa iyong palasyo

Maglakad tayo sa hardin ng ‘yong kaharian

Wala man akong pag-aari

Pangarap kong habang buhay kitang pagsisilbihan

O aking prinsesa

Oohh, prinsesa Prinsesa… prinsesa

Di ako makatulog

Naisip ko ang ningning ng ‘yong mata

Nasa isip kita sa buong umaga, buong magdamag

Sanay parati kang tanaw

O ang sakit isipin ito’y isang panaginip, panaginip lang

(Repeat Chorus)

Prinsesa… Prinsesa… Prinsesa… Prinsesa…

I learned about it when a friend told me that I looked like one of the girls in the video of the song Prinsesa, a remake by 6cyclemind. I watched it, and at first I did not want to believe I did, but then people started saying "Yeah Arielle, Dadong Dado yung girl." They said I did not really "look" like her, she was just "like" me. Hah! Moving on!

Listen to the song (I like 6cyclemind's version the best), feel the music, understand the lyrics. I love how the song looks highly of girls, women. It seems like the guy (Singer or whoever made this song) is so in love with the girl he is singing for. It seems like she looks like an angel to him. The fact that the song is in Filipino is another plus, because it makes the song more emotional. Flipinas love being flattered by songs like this one.

Original Pinoy Music, or OPM as we may call it, is really REALLY cool! We have to learn how to appreciate it because DUH?! We are Pinoys and we should learn to love our own stuff! We have to see the beauty in OPM, for this I tell you, could make you one step closer to discovering who Filipinos really are. As I have said in a previous entry, music plays a vital role in shaping people's minds, and it also reflects the character of the whole nation.

This song shows how lovely Filipinas are, and how we should be treated. "Habang buhay kitang pagsisilbihan." That is the reason why Prinsesa Yeye loves Prinsesa.
